The Brief
How can we use the power of 5G to make language learning accessible to millennials?
The Solution
Vocally is a language learning app that utilises the power of 5G and Augmented reality to bring the classroom to you. Turning your environment into a learning space, you’ll learn as you go, touching and feeling the world around you and learning a language of your choosing in the process.
Language Learning can be daunting, which is why Vocally’s UI & UX design capitalises on its augmented reality features. Using AR as the starting point for any language learning experience, users would scan their environment and take short, simple quizzes to test their knowledge on the subject. In essence, just as a child would learn, the app takes learning by doing and making mistakes as the best approach.

The problem with language learning apps
Having explored the design and UI of other prominent language learning apps, I found many issues regarding the structure of the learning experience in terms of breadth and UX.
Duolingo, for example, is very well designed, but isn’t suitable for long term retention. Babbel, another prominent language learning platform, covers much more ground but its User Interface is dull and unappealing.
So, how do you make language learning fun and engaging without sacrificing the quality of the learning experience?
